A nice slender building that reaches 38 stories without fatiguing the observer. Moreover, its lateral flanks allow it to reach its full height within a small footprint and not look awkward. These setbacks were mandated by the city of Chicago in an effort to preserve what little sunlight was filtering down to street level through the growing forest of skyscrapers, and the thickening haze that became common in industrialized 20th century Chicago. This building is a great addition to Chicago's Skyline. It makes a great contrast to the Smurfit-Stone Building, which is 2 blocks away. The pyramidal roof makes it stand out that much more. I can see where the inspiration for Lucien LaGrange's Park Tower came from, with the Green damper roof and the spires on the four corners on the top of the pyramid, before the little green middle portion extends 9 feet.
